Reporter: And then maybe a little bit more on league performances or how do you see it stacking up?
Suryakumar Yadav: I feel, yes, limited T20 are going forward before the T20 World Cup, but then we play 14 league games in the IPL as well. And players who’ve been playing in this T20 internationals, they have played a lot of games.
They have a lot of experience under their belt. So we don’t think there’ll be an issue or any problem in selecting the squad because everyone knows their role well, knows their responsibilities well, and how they play in different situations.
Reporter: Yes. Telford, Thank you.
Suryakumar Yadav: Sky, you India had a chance to get past the disappointment of the ODI World Cup. I realize it’s a different format, but do you think you did that properly? Have you moved past it by beating Australia very well in that T20 series?
Suryakumar Yadav: As I said earlier as well, there is a little bit of disappointment, which will be difficult to move on from. But as I always say, the show must go on and after that, there was a nice T20 series against Australia. We enjoyed it. It was a different format, but we enjoyed it and it was a big boost for the boys who came in and won the series for us.
Reporter: Thank you. Yeah. Go.
Reporter: How do you look at the series in terms of personal for you and secondly, on the larger perspective, when you look at the World Cup just a few months away?
Suryakumar Yadav: From a personal point of view, it is a big responsibility. I enjoyed it in the last series and would love to do the same in the coming series in South Africa. When you go outside India, you are always out of your comfort zone.
And when you do well out of your comfort zone, that makes a lot of noise, and that encourages the boys well. So really looking forward to this series and from a larger perspective, I feel, we’ll see what comes ahead. But for now, let’s focus on the series.
Reporter: Yes. Jigar?
Reporter: Yes. Jigar.
Reporter: Hi Sky. Given that there will be pace and bounce on the South African wicket, what will be the key to success on those wickets, especially in T20s?
Suryakumar Yadav: The key to success on such wickets will be to be yourself. The boys are prepared. We’ve just come out of a nice T20 series and played on all fast tracks in India, and everyone is equipped for it. Regarding the strokes, for the batters, all the batters have already batted on these kinds of surfaces and I’m sure they’ll enjoy playing here in South Africa.
Reporter: Rohan, if you have a question.
Reporter: Talking about the attacking batsmen in the squad, can you just tell us about the mindset of this new generation who approach T20 with such fearlessness, and how does this fearlessness come into your gameplay? Cricket as a whole has changed probably for you also when you were growing up, started playing the four-day version first at a local level.
Suryakumar Yadav: The guys whom I’m watching right now in the T20s are very expressive, very fearless, and that attitude may define them. They don’t have a lot of fear of failure. Whatever happens, if they do good or if they don’t get runs on that given day, their attitude remains the same on and off the field.
I think that balance is really important when you play this sport. And I’ve just told them, just enjoy this format, be yourself. You don’t need to do anything different and what you’ve been doing for your franchise. Just do the same when you’re playing international cricket.
Reporter: That will be the last question. Thank you, captain.
Suryakumar Yadav: Pleasure, everyone. Thank you. Sorry, sorry. Yes, Niharika. I see you’ve just raised your hand. We’ll take this as a final question. Niharika.
Reporter: Good morning, Niharika. Hi Sky. I have a two-part question for you. Regarding Rinku and KY finishing knocks, you were there in the Australia series, and you saw them from the outside. How heartening has it been for you to see these two youngsters who did well in the IPL carry that same momentum into the T20 series? And secondly, about the sixth bowling option.
Suryakumar Yadav: Regarding the sixth bowling option, thank you. Thank you. Thank you, Captain.
